The Accounting Manager is responsible for providing insightful, useful, and actionable financial and operational analysis for the entire organization. This role will work cross-functionally and supports the integrity of month-end close, AP/AR processing, implementing new financial systems, financial reporting, and all compliance related projects. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles and processes and will manage the accurate recording in line with our company-wide accounting policies and assist in building mature processes internally with an “audit-ready” mindset. This role will be key to help manage annual the financial audits, compliance and internal and external reporting. This role will report up to the VP, Technical Accounting.

Core Functions:

  • Manage the financial books and records, including maintenance of general ledger and sub-ledger systems, manage all journal entries, accruals, reserves, account reconciliations, depreciation/amortization and internal cost allocations
  • Ensure accurate recording and reporting in support of the Company’s accounting policies, operational projects and financial reporting.
  • Support the necessary in-house accounting infrastructure to provide detailed and regular visibility into the financial health of the business (i.e. accounting software, AR/AP, cash forecast, dashboards, etc.)
  • Assist with Balance Sheet analysis and related reconciliations, including flux analysis on balance movements from period to period
  • Evaluate opportunities for scale and growth and consider ways to drive efficiency, streamline accounting processes and automation.
  • Improve cash forecasting that drive efficient planning on cash management
  • Manage full cycle A/P processing including cost allocation among separate platforms
  • Ensure the company is billing and collecting from customers on a timely basis
  • Help ensure the appropriate accounting conclusions are reached on a timely basis for transactions affecting our reporting requirements
  • Monitor, review, research and interpret US GAAP and analyze new accounting pronouncements for financial statement and operational impact to the Company
  • Review documents, including contracts, to identify accounting issues and propose solutions or alternatives before it is executed
  • Drive process improvement and automation efforts to standardize and streamline policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function while safeguarding assets
  • Responsible for managing the company wide relationship with independent auditors to effectively plan and coordinate annual audits, manage, and bring closure to accounting and auditing issues, including the implementation of new accountings standards and or judgmental technical accounting and auditing issues
  • Maintain internal controls for key processes around financial reporting, month end close, procure to pay, revenue to cash, equity, and other key accounting processes
  • Participate in Company special projects and initiatives

Core Competencies:

We are looking for an exceptional individual with strong intellectual, critical thinking, decision making, team leadership, humility, honesty and analytical and financial skills. Ideally you will have spent a portion of your career in a technical and financial role supporting Corporate or centralized-support departments, preferably in the media and entertainment industry.

Qualifications,

  • 5+ years of accounting experience required. Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
  • Entertainment Industry / Media experience required.
  • Comprehensive and current understanding of US GAAP, including recently issued accounting pronouncements, principles and regulations, including knowledge of ASC 606, 842, and 920/926 Entertainment industry guidance.
  • Experience consolidating financial results, memos and management reporting across multiple departments/orgs or at an enterprise-level preferred.
  • Management experience, including managing, developing and leading staff
  • In-depth experience with enterprise planning systems (eg. Netsuite, Tableau, etc). preferred
  • Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills especially with non-Finance individuals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and executive meeting presence, and can communicate effectively with senior operational and financial management.
  • Comfortable with fast-paced and dynamic environments, self-driven prioritization. Solid interpersonal skills and work ethic
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance/Accounting.
