Hartbeat is seeking a Head of Marketing & Communication to leads its 360 marketing efforts – across brand, content, partner, publicity and sales marketing. The right candidate will be strategic with strong operational capabilities, results and outcome-oriented, a creative problem solver, highly collaborative, and be able to drive cultural transformation within the business. The Head of Marketing Communications will maximize visibility of and engagement with LOL’s brand (s), content, executives, and partners and be able to develop and tell a compelling story on the importance of comedic-based entertainment and further elevate the brand in an increasingly competitive market.

  • Strategic Marketing – support overall company strategy, develop the marketing strategy, the roadmap and plan for its execution, and own the execution of the plan. Provide ongoing tracking, measurement, KPI, and ROI analysis for the team’s market initiatives and campaigns to provide clear, actionable insights that inform and inspire communication for strategic calendar and brand initiatives. Develop Marketing plans, budgets, and tactics in support of LOL’s initiatives. Oversee Consumer and Trade integrated marketing development of all Marketing and Publicity materials, including sell sheets, newsletters, PR, social media and digital ad campaigns, marketing kits, strategic marketing partnerships, etc.
  • Marketing Department Leadership - Manage marketing budget and expenditures
  • Brand Marketing – Drive efforts to define and refine the LOL brand, ensuring our brand values, voice and truth are communicated at every touch point. Create and enforce standards of creative and cultural excellence for the brand – differentiating the company in the marketplace and maximizing awareness, engagement with our of our audiences (consumers, advertisers, partners and creators). Oversee the brand’s presence across all platforms (digital, video, IRL). . Identify competitors and evaluate their strategies and positioning and devise counterstrategies Inspire new thinking and energize teams to think beyond their division to combine the full power of the LOL brand!
  • Content Marketing - For LOL originals (audio, TV, Film, live events), work with distribution partners to develop series positioning, campaign strategy and agency creative briefs. Consolidate key information into on-brand, visually appealing decks and presentations; provide notes and feedback throughout the creative review process. Develop cross-platform content marketing campaigns that optimize the marketing mix based on the title and target audience – to maximize awareness, engagement and ultimately, tune-in.
  • Communications & Publicity – Oversee all corporate communications and project-specific publicity efforts for the company.
  • Creative Marketing – Partner with in-house creative agency (and 3rd party agencies as necessary) to drive breakthrough creative on all campaigns and initiatives for our brand, our series and our partner marketing efforts.
  • Audience Development – Develop and execute strategies to maximize audience (social, CRM, IRL) for our consumer (Laugh Out Loud, Women Write Now) and corporate brands (LOL)
  • Partner Marketing - Manage and activate strategic partnerships including but not limited to event sponsorships, distribution partnerships and other co-marketing efforts.
  • Sale marketing – Marketing with Ad Sales/Branded Entertainment Team to position LOL as the go-to branded entertainment partner in the marketing. Oversees development of ad sales collateral, media kit and ad-sales industry events


  • A minimum 12 years of experience at an entertainment marketing
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in planning, managing, and executing multi-channel, multi-segment marketing campaigns
  • Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing, business, communications, or another related field
  • MBA a plus
  • Native understanding of digital with an emphasis on mobile, social & video
  • Must have a strong sense of humor and passion for comedy and pop culture - Multicultural marketing and/or content experience, strongly preferred
